That about sums up the last few days. We have tons of pictures and real information to post but we’re so busy that we won’t have time for a few days to get all of that done. In the meantime, I’ll satisfy what I’m sure is your burning desire to know what’s going on by posting a quick recap.
The family clam bake was Saturday and was great fun, as always. Unfortunately Guy couldn’t make it because we had limited time to get the radiant heat system, some electrical work and other odds and ends done before yesterday (Monday), so Guy spent all Saturday getting the manifold ready and all kinds of other stuff that my exhausted brain can’t really think of right now.
I joined him Sunday to get the radiant heat pipe laid. We managed to get the entire living room done including the two under-slab electrical outlets which was the only area that had to be done for Monday. Since this was our first time, we were a little slow but picked up the pace on the second half of the room. Monday morning we both took off work because the crews were supposed to show up and pour the slab (despite forecasted thunderstorms) and we definitely wanted to be there. And show up they did, first thing Monday. Guy got there not a minute too soon to find them ready to pour without first finishing the insulation work they were supposed to do.
Long story short, they poured the living room slab while Guy and I (and Sam) ’supervised’. It looks fabulous. Then Guy and I spent the rest of the day laying the next section of radiant heat pipe (after a two-hour rain delay) which needs to be done by Wednesday. I’m happy to report that as of 8PM we had the West wing of the house done. Today we’re both back at work but will head up later this afternoon to finish off the kitchen, then we’re done with this project.
The crews are supposed to be at the house today finishing up some drain pipes and getting the forms ready for the pour tomorrow. Hopefully when Guy and I get up there today we’ll find good things, otherwise the pour tomorrow could be hairy. We’ll update with more details and pictures in a few days.
